Our Mission & Vision

The mission of Evangel Temple is to Evangelize the Lost, Edify the Saints, and Exalt Jesus Christ.

Leadership Team:

Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Pastor Don Hutchings, Senior Pastor

Reverend Don Hutchings has been the Senior Pastor of Evangel Temple since 1989. During this time, God has blessed the church with thousands of souls saved, and the congregation has grown from 128 to over 1,000.

Pastor Don holds a Bible degree from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. His undergraduate and graduate degrees were earned at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville, Arkansas. He is an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God.

He is very active in the community, and is currently serving as a City Director At-Large position, and is a current board member of FCA. Former Governor Mike Huckabee appointed Pastor Don to the Criminal Detention Facility Review Committee for Judicial District 12. He is an active member of the Noon Exchange Club and Rotary Club.

On December 14, 2006, Pastor Don was given a “Spirit of the Frontier” award by the city of Fort Smith. This award is given to outstanding individuals in Fort Smith who have made a positive difference for good on the life of the community. It is the highest honor the city can give to a citizen.

Pastor Don and his wife, Carol, have been married for 41 years. They have three children — Celeste, Monica, and Evan. They are blessed with seven beautiful grandchildren — Zayne , Noah, Nasa, Asa, Abram, Owen and Cora.

Worship & Children’s Center

God has given us a vision to build a new worship center, which we are calling the Dino Hutchings Worship Center.  Our church will remain Evangel Temple Assembly of God, but the worship center will be named in honor of our late Minister of Music, Dino Hutchings.

It is being built on the property at Dodson and Towson Avenues, directly across from our current location.

We have spent over $1,000,000 to purchase property and invest in architectural and building plans.

Ministries

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Evangel Temple is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads to many nations. Evangel Temple members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as washing the church vehicles, to preparing the church bulletins.

Hispanic Ministry of Evangel Temple
Pastors John and Maria Amaya lead this wonderful ministry.  They have a Bible Study Sundays at 10 a.m. and a service at 10:45 a.m. in the Family Life Center downstairs.  If you’d like more information, please visit their facebook page.

Mission Outreach
Evangel Temple is thrilled to be part of the spread of God’s kingdom around the world. We are active in supporting missionaries with our money and with our prayers. We encourage all of our people to respond to God’s call for laborers, whether it means that they move to a foreign country or live and minister in our own community.

Van Ministry

We use our van to bring children to church on Sunday mornings, and youth on Wednesday nights.  For a ride from a location in Fort Smith, call 479-782-9121.

Music and Ministry
God-honoring worship is something we strive for. Many church members get involved in our music and drama ministry. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the worship team. Still others get involved in drama. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of Evangel Temple, using their talents and gifts to glorify God.

Ushers/Hostesses/Greeters
The Welcome team at Evangel Temple fills an important role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing direction,  and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The Welcome team is a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology
Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of Evangel Temple. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes.  We maintain an active Facebook and Twitter feed for additional church communication.

Prayer Warriors
Prayer cannot be overestimated. Prayer moves the hand of God. E.T. is a body of believers dependent upon prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Each Monday at 6 p.m. we have a special time of prayer and training of prayer warriors.   Throughout the week, volunteers to our Prayer Chain team, pray for their pastor, a list of church members, any special requests, and missionary prayer needs.  The last Sunday of each month we have church-wide prayer in the sanctuary from 4-5 p.m.

Children’s Church – etKIDS
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, Evangel Temple holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s church volunteers have an endless stream of creativity–ranging from videos, to games, to object lessons.  etKIDS has its own Worship Team of children who are learning to minister through anointed music.

Bind the Hearts
Ladies, this is a prayer-based fellowship featuring a speaker and prayer time. All ladies invited. Bring a dish to share. This event takes place the fourth Tuesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the home of Barbara Crouch. Call 782-9121 for directions.

C.O.T.S. (Church on the Street)

C.O.T.S. ministers to the homeless with food, clothing, and the Word of God, the 2nd and 4th Saturdays on Clayton Expressway & No. H St. If you are interested in volunteering, please give us a call at 479-782-9121479-782-9121.
